Horses Trained by Rodney Conolan.
Rodney Conolan has been very proud to have ‘the pleasure’
of training and showing ‘Pass Judgement’* and ‘Pawsitively
Blazing’* this show season. Rodney’s move back to his
home state of Victoria has led to the beginning of a great partnership
between Rodney and J-Bar-C.
Rodney was born in Melbourne and grew up around Kyneton, Vic. He
has always been interested in horses; his uncle was keenly involved
in rodeo, which drew Rodney to the western breeds. His parents John
and Lynette traveled many miles to take Rodney and his sister Donna
to shows.
Rodney had a great youth career, and some great horses. ‘Colony
Liberty Bill’ a handsome palomino gelding, carried Rodney
to many youth and open wins and Bill had stayed as a member of the
family right up until April 2003 when he was put down due to old
age (well over 28). Rodney trained horses for friends and clients
in his youth years and he won the prestigious 2 year old Western
Pleasure Futurity at the Premier State Show aboard ‘Yugilbar
Rosita’ as a youth rider.
In 1989 Rodney moved to Sydney to live with Anne. By 1991 they were
married and Rodney was training horses full time from Castle Hill
showing mainly Western Pleasure and Reining horses. Success continued
with his great team of Quarter Horses, Appaloosas and Paints producing
numerous national champions, NPHA and NRHA champions.
In 1994 Rodney moved to the Southern Tablelands to train solely
for the Winderadeen Corporation. His eight and a half years at Winderadeen
were extremely fulfilling and opened many doors. In 1996 he made
his first of many trips to the United States and through his friendship
with World Champion trainer Guy Stoops and wife Kathy he gained
the opportunity to show pleasure horses in Texas.
In October of 2002, Rodney and his wife Anne purchased their own
property and this has led to Rodney’s move back to Victoria
and training horses publicly again.
